Ultimate *Working* Blog Ping List

Posted by BackLinkFast On March - 22 - 2010 2 COMMENTS

Ping services are a brilliant way to automatically notify blog directories and search engines about updates to your blog. I’ve been scouring the internet, and combined all the ones I found into this list. The more services you ping the higher chance you will get more traffic to your site.

To update your ping list in WordPress simply go to the admin section, the click on Options, then on Writing.

I wouldn’t go and paste all these in just yet, there’s a catch, as you will see below

SEO FOX – Worth a Try?

Posted by BackLinkFast On March - 14 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

One of the newest, hottest tools in the SEO market today is SEO Fox. This program uses competitor intelligence to help you build a back link strategy for your business, and then they’ll help you implement it. But of course, the question of the day is – is it worth the cost?

There’s plenty of software out there that will tell you what your competitors are doing. We decided to put SEO Fox to the test to see if it’s the best option for people out there looking to increase search engine presence across multiple search engines – Google in particular.

First of all, SEO Fox services are extremely easy to use. The team is easy to work with, and will help you implement an entire marketing strategy for your business. We’re not just talking SEO here – SEO Fox services will get you going with PPC services, a social media strategy, and anything else that you need to get a full-tilt marketing plan going for your business.

This gets a thumbs up from us. If you aren’t approaching marketing for your business in a holistic way in this day and age, you’re missing out on valuable customers. We’re finding more and more that customers resent being “sold”, and that the best way to keep a customer coming back for your services is to get them interested as part of a process, rather than moving on to the next customer who you bug to death until a conversion happens.

With a service like SEO Fox, you can get the competitive data you need to understand what is attracting your customers, what your competition is out there doing, and you’ll get a friendly staff to help you develop a marketing plan for your website.

Is the Cost Worth It?

We’d have to say yes. A comprehensive marketing plan isn’t something that you should skimp on. As we’ve said before, you shouldn’t just throw your sail into the wind and see where you end up, or follow exactly what your competitors are doing rote by rote and expect to end up at the top of the market. It’s very important to create a unique marketing plan that fits your business, and SEO should be a major part of that.

So, why not work with a company that you know will have your best SEO interests in mind?

We found that the SEO Fox staff can put a plan together that will benefit your business, and will allow you to compete with a fully integrated, holistic marketing plan. This approach is one that few agencies seem to be using these days, as each agency seems to want to sell you on one point for money’s sake.

We’ve talked a lot more about the staff and the full plan here than the actual software – but believe us, this is worth it, too. You can see for yourself with a competitor back linking report that you can purchase for just a few bucks at www.seofox.com .

Now that it’s taking more to get customers to buy from you, it’s a must to be ahead of your game. SEO Fox can help you do that. It’s a good idea to have a fully integrative marketing plan for your business.

You Don’t Just Have to Go After the Big-Time Words

Posted by BackLinkFast On March - 4 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Are you spending too much time trying to get on the first page of Google for the “big words”?

There are more words out there than the ever-coveted “top tier” terms. If you aren’t researching keywords that are a little less competitive and possibly a lot easier to rank your website with, maybe you should consider it.

There are a ton of great tools out there to help you figure out what those keywords are.

Google Insights for Search

For starters, Google has great tools that are built just so you can see what’s going on out there in web world – specifically, what people are out there looking for. Google Trends and Google Insights for Search.

http://trends.google.com and http://www.google.com/insights/search allow you to type in certain keywords, and find out different keyword trends that vary by city, and by date.

You unfortunately won’t get exact numbers – for instance, you would be able to see that 1,431,000 people worldwide searched for a particular keyword in May of 2006. If that is the type of specific information you’re looking for, you might want to look elsewhere.

Google will, however, give you an idea based on a linear of scale of how the search volume of a particular keyword has changed over time. You will also get city and country information for top searches, and can narrow your search by region.

Google Keyword Tool

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Google’s Keyword tool is also an incredible asset, as it lets you examine the competition you’ll find for each keyword. Take a look at the competition meter next to the keyword you type in within your results. It’s a very handy tool to determine which words have little competition.

Keyword Spy

There are plenty of other keyword tools out there that are subscription-based. Keyword Spy, Spyfu, and other popular tools can help you figure out what keywords your competitors are using. This could be valuable information to determining the lowest competition keywords out there for you.

I’ve Got My Keywords – Now What?

After you’ve made a creative list of low competition keywords, start local. Target a few local markets in major cities of your choosing, and make sure tracking is in place to see how your SEO efforts are going. When you get good rankings in those local markets, then you can move on to more and more cities. Make sure to keep track of your national or global rankings, if applicable, throughout the process.

There are plenty of ways to do effective SEO. Make sure that you continually improve your on page factors and continue to hunt for effective backlinks throughout building your SEO campaigns. And remember … if you don’t have tracking software in place, you really shouldn’t start any campaigns. If you don’t have any idea how far you’ve come, you won’t be able to measure tangible goals, and develop a plan to get there.

How to find your back links for free using Yahoo Explorer!

Posted by BackLinkFast On February - 18 - 2010 3 COMMENTS

Getting back links for your website is one of the most important strategies of any search engine optimization. While there are numerous sites offering advice on how to achieve this, and costly programs that claim to help you do this, if you are not aware of whether your strategy is successful all that hard work could be going to waste. If you are just starting out in SEO and are not ready to invest in costly software, or are just looking for another way to check your backlinks, then do not over look the very useful and free Yahoo Explorer!

Yahoo Explorer allows you to see all indexed pages on Yahoo that link back to yours, as well as the most popular sites for particular searches and for particular sites. You can find Yahoo Explorer by following this link, https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com, or by searching for Yahoo Explorer in any search engine. Once there you can enter the URL you want to check at the top, or log-in using your existing Yahoo user name, or if you don’t have one, then create one. Creating an account will allow you to keep track of multiple sites. Once you have typed in the website or specific webpage that you are looking for results for, follow these two easy steps to check your backlinks.

  1. Click the “inlinks” button on the left in the results area at the top of the page. And then click the drop-down box at the right, and select “Except from this Domain“.
  2. The results will now appear and your backlinks will be featured next to the “inlinks” results. The actual links themselves are listed below that.

It really is that easy to find your backlinks on Yahoo, and this is an easy, quick, and accurate tool that should not be overlooked by anyone who is concerned with the search engine optimization of their website. It is also a great tool to help you get started with SEO and can help you build your strategy and improve your results.

Why your web design can make or break your SEO strategy

Posted by BackLinkFast On February - 4 - 2010 2 COMMENTS

When considering the design of your website or blog functionality, usability and aesthetics are always important considerations; but how your website’s design affects your SEO strategy may not always be considered or even apparent. So how can you tell if your website’s or blog’s design is having an effect on your search engine results, and what should you consider to make your design as SEO-friendly as possible?

Size Matters

Search engine ranking is based on content, so the more you have the better chance your site has of getting top results. A good way to see if adding content would help your ranking is to look at the amount of content your biggest competitors have in comparison to you. A great and easy way to add content is to start a blog or create free resource pages. This can boost your results with little effort, especially if you hire a writer to handle the blog content.

Look at your Graphics

Graphics are a great way to make your website or blog interesting and professional looking, but without adding the appropriate keyword tags to the html code then they will add nothing to your SEO strategy. If you also have little content on your page they may even hinder it.

Are your technical elements ok?

Elements to dynamic websites such as PHP databases can virtually eliminate the amount of content that you have on your site by not having a static URL. While in most cases this cannot be helped, creating a site map can assist you in getting your content seen by search engine web crawlers. Also, take a look at your html code. Messy code can have a negative effect on the methods you may be using to get top search engine results.

Is your Domain Name working for you?

Choosing a good domain name is a very important part of maximizing your SEO strategy and is also usually an important part of your website’s identity. While choosing a domain name that is easy to remember and spell, and represents the purpose of your business or blog is important, considering its effectiveness within the realm of search engine optimization is also critical. Consider purchasing multiple domain names from your web host to take full advantage of the effect this can have on your SEO results.

Finding a balance between the design of your website or blog for the purpose of both appealing to your clients or users and getting them there in the first place is always important, and using these tips can get you the results you want.

Is Your SEO Adding Up?

Posted by BackLinkFast On February - 1 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

When it comes to an SEO-optimized website, you can’t afford not to do everything right.

Any run-of-the-mill webmaster can learn enough about SEO from internet resources to keep an SEO-optimized website running. Most webmasters we’ve come into contact with start a website with analytical tools in place, optimized copy, relevant page content, and a clean website…

… And then it all goes downhill from there.

If you’ve been neglecting SEO optimization of your site, your competitors are getting the edge on you. Today’s tips will involve ways to keep the SEO power of your site up to date.

Here are some things to consider when reviewing your site’s SEO rank:

  1. How long does it take to load your site? If you’re using the same flash scripts on the home page or a landing page that you ‘ve been using for a few years, don’t. Google is more heavy-handed than ever when penalizing webmasters for having flash.

This doesn’t mean that all flash is bad – it can be a great, graphic or interactive addition to your page. It becomes a problem when the flash gets a little on the heavy side, and slows down your users’ browsers when they view your page. It’s also a problem when you are using the flash as a replacement for content, which is what Google is really looking for to index you.

Clear your cache, refresh your browser, and take a look at the load time of your page. Are you sure that the flash is worth losing SEO power?

Also, if you’re finding your blog to be heavy on images and a ton of plugins, this could be causing your page to load much more slowly. Remember to “only use what you need,” and make sure what you are using is worth the cost of a greater load time.

  2. Do you make it easy to backlink you, or share your information? There’s a big difference between correctly utilizing social networking and bookmarking tools, and covering your pages in a ton of those cute little social media icons. Trust us, no one wants to see those. They’re on the site for your content.

At the same time, if you’re not making it easy for people to take note of your website, you’re going to miss some valuable backlinks.

Take the time to come up with a social media integration plan for your website – you won’t be disappointed.

  3. Analytics. We went over this last week, so we can simply touch on this for now. If you aren’t using Analytics properly for your website, you’re not going to be able to see what users are doing on your site. If a keyword drops off the map, are you using a program that would give you that information? Do you know where you’re at in the rankings?

This is definitely something to take note of, and improve on your site.

  4. Next week we’ll have more tips and tricks for doing your seasonal SEO analysis – follow our tips, and you’ll stay on top!
